You can use OneSearch to find additional information on superhero ethics for your Superhero Ethics League assignments. Your searches may be different depending on what type of information you are seeking (for example, general ethics, specific theories like utilitarianism, specific superheros or movie details, etc. Below is just one of many possible strategies you can try.
- Go to the Advanced Search screen in OneSearch.
- Type your film title (in quotation marks) into the first search box, for example:
"iron man" or "tony stark" or "the avengers"
[Search tips: Use quotation marks to search for phrases of two or more words. This tells the database to search for that exact phrase as opposed to those words anywhere in the text, far apart from each other. Use the word, or, to search for synonyms or similar terms.]
- To the right of the first search box, click Select a Field (optional) and select AB Abstract.
[Search tip: Select the AB Abstract field to search for your terms in the articles’ abstract. This will ensure that your terms are discussed in the summary of the resulting articles.]
- Type ethics-related terms or theories into the second search box, for example:
ethic* or moral* or philosoph*
[Search tip: Use the asterisk symbol to search for all possible variations of a word. In this case, for example, typing ethic* will search for ethic, ethics, ethical, etc.)
- For scholarly articles, you can check the box for Peer Reviewed Journals (feel free to leave this unchecked if you're interested in seeing eBooks as well).
-
Click Search.
Then, browse the list of results for relevant articles.
