Regulations & Administrative Codes

"Regulations, or administrative laws, of the United States are the rules adopted by federal executive departments and agencies on how to follow laws (statutes) passed by the United States Congress. The regulations are compiled and codified into the Code of Federal Regulations. The Federal Register is the daily publication of these proposed and final rules" (Justia, n.d.). 

Finding State and Federal Regulations in Nexis Uni

The steps for finding state and federal regulations in Nexis Uni begin the same

1. Click to open the “All Content Types” menu and select "Legal"

2. Near the bottom of the Legal menu, select "Administrative Codes and Regulations"

3. The Legal - Administrative Codes and Regulations menu lists all the states.
   • You can either select the state(s) you want to search for or select "Federal" near the bottom of the menu.
     • The screen shot below shows the state of Colorado selected. You can select more than one state.
     • If you want to remove a state from the search, click the X to the right of it.

4. Just to the right of the search box, click "Previous 2 Years" and select "All available dates" if you would like to see results going back further than just the most recent two years.

5. Enter search terms related to your topic into the search box.
   • Tip: Use quotation marks around phrases of two or more words to tell the database to search for those words as a phrase where they appear right next to one another.

6. On the left under "Statutes and Legislation" select "Administrative Codes and Regulations".
