What is Fact Checking?

Fact Checking is a process of verifying the accuracy of claims and media content. While it is an incorporated process in professional journalism, fact checking is increasingly everyone's responsibility, since we encounter and share information from many sources and not just journalistic, professional, and trusted sources.

There are many professional and reliable sources that can aid in fact checking claims. Below are several examples. As you examine these sites, consider: Do you trust them? How did they research the claim, and what evidence is provided? Given the evidence, would you reach the same conclusion about the claim or content?
