Use of library content and collections

Library website content (e.g. tutorials, research guides, etc.)

The Library website is a part of the Excelsior University environment. Please refer to the Electronic Use Statement of Policy page and adhere to the terms and conditions for use of the Excelsior website.

Licensed third-party content (e.g. online databases, journals, eBooks, and multimedia)

Most of the Research Databases in the library are governed by copyright law and by the terms of use and license agreements between Excelsior University and each service provider. Every individual is responsible for adhering to these terms as well as Excelsior’s Electronic Use: Statement of Policy when using the library’s resources. Below are some general guidelines (not all inclusive) for using the library’s licensed resources:

  • Use is restricted to current, authorized students, faculty and staff for educational, noncommercial purposes only.
  • You may not make multiple copies of, sell, or otherwise distribute copies of, any content in the library, nor of excerpts of content posted on this site
  • When making single copies of content posted in the library for your personal use, or of excerpts of content posted on this site for your personal use, you must include any copyright information displayed upon or within that document.
  • You may not make any digital or electronic copies of any content in the library (other than the single digital copy made by your browser in order to view the page), nor should you copy any content from this site into any other electronic or digital document or file such as an Internet page. If you want to use a resource in a course, follow the Creating Permalinks document steps to link to the item in order to adhere with license agreements.

Open access/OER content

Open source materials are evaluated for provenance and currency before inclusion in the library. The library does not control the content included in the open source materials and entities to which it links, which may be changed by the content provider at any time.

The library, its content and its staff do not provide medical, legal, or financial advice and no information found in or through the library may be construed to do so.
