Publishing in SOAR

A guide for publishing work in SOAR.

How to submit student work

Please email your submission to scholarlycommunications@excelsior.edu. Multiple submissions are welcome! Faculty are encouraged to nominate student work that is complete and has received an A. The library reserves the right to make final decisions on whether a submission is included in SOAR. Please contact us for more information about submitting audiovisual files.  Please follow these steps:

Step 1. Understand Eligibility and Guidelines

Familiarize yourself with the institutional repository's submission guidelines viewable below.

Check the eligibility criteria for the types of works accepted by the repository.

Ensure your work aligns with the repository's focus and scope.

Step 2. Prepare Your Work

Convert your work into a digital format.

Ensure the file is accessible and compatible with the repository’s system.

Step 3. Collect Necessary Information

Gather details such as author information, co-authors, acknowledgments, and funding sources.

Collect bibliographic information, including title, publication date, and publisher details.

Verify any copyright and licensing information related to your work.

Step 4: Submit Your Work

Student receives an A grade for their Capstone project or other work

Instructor nominates the student work to their Department Chair

The Department Chair evaluates the submission and sends it to the Executive Dean for final approval

The Executive Dean sends the approved work and completed Submission Agreement form (see below) to the Scholarly Communications Librarian

 Step 5: Post-Submission

After submitting the work, the repository manager or designated staff will review it for compliance.

Once approved, the work will be published in the institutional repository.

You will receive a notification or confirmation once the work is successfully published.

Keep the repository information handy for future reference, citation, or sharing purposes.
